This is the login and search window for the test version of a joint initiative by EuroUFO.net and UAP Check: Euro Ufo Index, the catalog of reports and news of alleged UFO sightings in Europe, from the archives of the participating organizations.
This first test section only concerns a few preliminary collections of sightings during the year 2024, supplied by some organizations and projects, but more collections will be added in the next weeks. After the test phase is completed, the Index will be extended to a longer time frame (from 1947 onward, as a minimum).
In this first phase, the catalog is limited to the essential data for indexing cases (date, time, location, type, source organization). More data will be added in future, but the full data sets are remaining with the participating organizations, which the Index will link to.
Cases can be sorted and searched for by the following search engine:
As for the essential data:
- date is given as year, month, day at the beginning of the reported sighting; if unsure, a generic description may be offered;
- time is the local time at the beginning of the reported sighting; if unsure, a generic description may be offered;
- location is given as nation (ISO 3166-1 international code), county or province (local codes), municipality where the witness was at the beginning of the reported sighting; if unsure, a generic description may be offered;
- type is given as a simplified Hynek-class, sometimes followed by a subtype for special features (if the supplying organization is using one, waiting for a shared standardized codification);
- organization is given as the acronym of the group or project which collected and shared (or published) the case data: a table with full names and website links is attached.
Caveat #1: Not each and all reports are containing all such data (eg. time or type are often missing) or are reporting them in the same format, as of now, since each supplying organization may be using different styles and formats in their own data sets. A standardized presentation will be improved in time.
Caveat #2: This Index is containing all available reports or news about sightings of UFOs in the broader sense, i.e. any object or phenomena which the witness could not identify, whatever:
– consistency index (the type and quality of the source);
– strangeness index (the probability of identification with known causes)
as defined in GEIPAN classification system.
Such indications are going to be added to each report, in future updates and improvements.
Caveat #3: Some reports may have been reported to two or more organizations and may hence be included more than once in this Index.
